The Firkin Whisky Co. is all about friendship and character. Two old mates meet in bar in Tokyo. One is an ex Head Of Malts for UDV/Diageo, Mr Mike Collings, the other, the notorious Mr Raw Cask, independent bottler Mr Robin Tucek. Together they agree that they can produce independently bottled whisky like no other and so they created The Firkin Whisky Co.  For Mike and Robin it?s all about using years of experience and two incredibly developed palates to pick and create whiskies that are at the perfect point of maturation. Bottle them at the perfect alcohol percentage for maximum flavour and enjoyment.  As the lads say, ?Our sole aim is to produce and share whiskies that absolutely Firkin delicious.?

The Caol Ila Distillery, The name Caol Ila comes from the Gaelic ?Caol Ila? meaning ?Sound of Islay? which is the stretch of water which separates Islay from Jura. The distillery was founded in 1846 and has been very successful through its long history. The distillery draws water from the nearby loch which is surrounded by myrtle and heather. As did most distilleries it closed during the Great Depression from 1930 to 1937 and was reconstructed from 1972 to 1974. Juggling between old traditional methods and modern methods of using new technology. This distillery produces whiskies that have chocolate, citrus and floral notes as well as tangy and peaty, which is typical of an Islay whisky.

This single malt whisky was distilled at the Caol Ila distillery, was placed in a ex-Marsala Wine cask and left to mature. Bottled at 48.9% abv as part of the The Firkin Whisky Co. Limited Edition Single Cask Series. Winning a gold medal at the 2020 World Whisky Awards.

Big and powerful smokey peaty notes on the nose here, malted barley, oak and spice.
The palate is creamy with bold peat smoke and a good combination of orchard fruits, oak and spice.
Finishing with white pepper, earthy peat and subtle spice.

700mL | 48.9%ABV
