The vineyard faces NE and has stony riverbed soil overlaid with wind-blown loess. The gentle 2° slope helps the occasional frost and cold air to roll off into the Clutha River basin.
- Colour: Shining light burgundy
- Aromas: Blackcurrant and charred oak.
- Palate: The front and mid palate gives flavours of blackcurrant, whole savoury tannins linger in the back.
- General: Fermented very traditionally in open topped tanks, hand plunged, indigenous yeasts with a portion of whole bunch included in each fermenter.
A well-structured wine which will continue to improve with age. Maturation in French barriques for 12 months before minimal filtration, fining and bottling.
