A blend of 79% Merlot and 21% Malbec, indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 35% new French oak barrels.
Very dark, deep, near saturated, purple-hued black-red colour. An amalgam of primary, dark raspberry, boysenberry fruit aromas intermingle with ripe blackcurrants and nuances of dark herbs on the nose. Medium-bodied, blackberry and boysenberry fruit flavours form a juicy core.
Notes of dark herbs and oak spices emerge, adding interest on the palate. Soft textures from supple tannins and moderate extraction underline the fruit, providing drive and linearity. The tannins build in firmness and lead the dark fruit flavours to a fine-grained, dry finish with good length. This is a supple, finely-textured Merlot-based wine showing the influence of fruity, spicy Malbec.
Serve with pizza, barbecued food and casseroles over the next 4+ years.
