Harvested in small lots, the grapes were allowed to cold soak up to three days before fermentation. They were inoculated with yeast strains that specifically enhance the raspberry fruit and fermentation completion. The wine was pressed off slightly sweet to avoid excessive tannins. The individual lots were racked off the lees and underwent a protein fining to remove green tannins. They were re-racked into both new, one- and two-year-old French and Hungarian oak barrels. It was aged for nearly 10 months in barrels. We blended Petite Sirah prior to bottling to enhance body and color.

Winemaker’s Notes:
Dark crimson in color, this Zinfandel displays cran-raspberry fruit, crushed rock and white pepper spiciness with a background of cedar-like aromas. The palate is filled with juicy, ripe raspberry fruit and a long finish of crushed pepper and leather. This is the most fruit forward, ripe Zinfandel we have made in a long time. It is very generous with fruit and concentration. A perfect wine to enjoy now with your friends and family, pairing with BBQ food and pizza. However, my personal favorite is our Sonoma Zinfandel with Beef or Chicken Enchiladas smothered with either Red Chili or Mole Sauce. - Mark R. Lyon, Winemaker
