Waipara fruit fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 3-4 weeks on skins and mostly aged in barrel with a small portion in tank for 4 months. Light ruby-red colour with pale garnet on edge. The nose is very fresh and attractively lifted with aromas of cherry and raspberry fruits along with dark red florals and subtle oaking, the bouquet possessing good depth and concentration. Medium-bodied, bright and juicy raspberry and cherry flavours unfold to reveal a savoury, resin-like edge. There is good power and drive, some alcohol warmth noticeable. Fine-grained, but firm tannins emerge and along with fresh acidity lead to a slender, tightly bound finish with dry textures. This is a bright and juicy cherry and raspberry-fruited Pinot Noir with some savoury nuances and a firm tannin line. Serve with antipasto and poultry over the next 3-4+ years.
