It’s pretty much classic McLaren Vale Shiraz really. Dark ruby-red, this has very fine and intensely penetrating aromas of ripe plum, prune, liquorice and eucalypt, as well as Asian spices and black pepper. The palate is packed with the flavours shown by the nose, all supported by a supple, near seamless palate. There’s fine tannins under the sweet fruit, and a little bitter gaminess; this being the Sangiovese. The finish is marked by very long, lingering flavours of Dutch liquorice. Great drinking now and for another 5-6 years.
