Hand-picked fruit from the Cromwell Basin and Bannockburn areas, destemmed and given a cold soak, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 30% new French oak. Even ruby-red colour with light purple hues, lighter on edge. This has an elegant and fruity nose, with up-front whole berry aromas of lifted red florals, cherry jam and hints of raspberry liqueur, along with steely, mineral and liquorice detail. Medium-full bodied, bright dark cherry fruit flavours are enhanced by lively, elevated acidity. The fruit unfolds raspberry and dark herb depth. The palate is juicy and succulent, the fruit supported by fine, firm tannins and a little alcoholic power. There is drive, structure and energy, and the flavours lead to a moderately long, dry finish with dark fruit notes. This is a fruity and juicy Pinot Noir with plenty of acidity and firm tannin textures. Match with pork, veal, lamb, and Asian and Middle Eastern fare.
